Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri has been praised by fans for raising deaf awareness in the villa. In Monday night’s premiere episode of season 8, the 23 year old dancer and model made her debut on the ITV show as its first ever deaf contestant.
On their first night in the villa, Tasha rounded up the rest of her fellow islanders by the fire pit to announce her deafness.
Speaking in the Beach Hut, she said: "I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to get everyone together and be like, 'This is me, this is who I am'." She told them: “Basically, I was born completely deaf… and I wear a cochlear implant in my right ear.” “It doesn’t define me, it's just a part of who I am,” she continued. “It’s my superpower.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter.
