That mold being “can participate in a Revolve fashion show-themed date.” And though some progress has been made toward casting non-white contestants, there’s been little to none when it comes to body diversity ().So when Alexa Alfia graced the pods on of Love Is Blind, she was a breath of fresh.
Not only is the 27-year-old insurance agency owner from Dallas above a sample size, she’s also proudly Jewish. For once, I could relate.Unfortunately, the first thing the show addresses is her body—but she doesn’t play into it. “When I look at myself, yeah I mean I could stand to lose a little weight,” she says, before adding, “Like I could, but I don’t necessarily want to.
I’m very confident in who I am, and I deserve someone who understands that.”As a curvy Jewish gal myself, I’ve had a complicated relationship to my body since, well, forever.
I won’t get into the various sources of my insecurities, but let’s just say someone suggested I wear Spanx at my bat mitzvah.
