The day after Los Angeles County’s number of new cases topped 10,000 for the first time, state and local officials warned about the status of the region’s health care system.By Sunday, said California Governor Gavin Newsom, Southern California had only about 10% of its ICU capacity left.
That had dropped from about 15% on Thursday and 12.5% on Saturday. Los Angeles County had about 16% of its adult ICU beds left on Monday.Hospitalizations were up 72% in the past two weeks, Newsom said.
