Lord Sugar backs down on ‘fake news’ tweet after facing angry response

Lord Alan Sugar has backed down and deleted a tweet that contained false information after he faced harsh backlash this week.

Just weeks after the 73-year-old asked whether a mock report suggesting lions were patrolling Russia during the pandemic was a joke, he faced another social media fail when he shared a screenshot of a fake report to his 5.3million followers, in which Dr Tasuku Honjo claimed coronavirus had been ‘made’ by China.

And of course punters were all too happy to point out it wasn’t fact. The Apprentice host immediately faced a barrage of tweets berating him for the move, however he seemed defiant in sharing it as he justified the post by writing: ‘I just passed it on.
