Lone walker collapses and dies in Lake District tragedy

A lone walker tragically died after collapsing in the Lake District. Emergency services were called to Scafell Massif at the top of Calf Cove shortly after 3pm on Sunday, June 5.

Other walkers spotted the person and reported them as being collapsed and unconscious, LancsLive reports. The Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team (WMRT) was alerted by an urgent call from Cumbria Police.

The walkers tried to resuscitate the person and called for help with Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) attending. The helimed transport the body to Brackenclose where the aircraft was met by mountain rescue volunteers. WMRT posted details on social media about the tragic incident this morning (June 15) and said 'our thoughts are with the friends and family of the person who died.
