Matt Hancock threatened to axe a key lockdown rule on exercise after he warned people are “taking the Mickey”. The Health Secretary said he was “very reluctant” to remove the rule which allows two people from different households or bubbles to exercise together, in an open space like a park.
But he did not rule out axing the rule if, he claimed, people continued not to follow the spirit of the rules. And he said some people are “stretching” rules and “taking the Mickey”.
The “exercise with a friend” rule did not exist in last year’s March lockdown and Downing Street sources fear it is being “abused” for socialising.
