Madeleine McCann prime suspect's prison hell without his coffee creamer and special pens
Madeleine McCann.Brueckner has also complained about his nice pens being confiscated by guards and says he is distressed because he doesn't have creamer for his coffee. He is being held in Oldenburg prison near Bremen after being found guilty of the sex offence in in Praia da Luz on the Algarve.German prosecutors say they believe he's responsible for Madeleine’s 2007 disappearance but have been unable to gather enough evidence to charge him.Brueckner’s seven-year sentence for the Algarve rape will come to an end in 2024.But he’s sent a lengthy letter to the German Ministry of Justice detailing the various problems he’s having behind bars.Alongside concerns that he might be targeted by the other prisoners, the convicted sex offender is unhappy about having to buy his own pens from the prison shop and distressed by a lack of coffee creamer. He says he had some nice pens of his own but they had been confiscated by prison guards because they were a potential "safety hazard”.But his biggest problem, he revealed in a letter obtained by German magazine Bild, was that since a documentary about Madeleine’s disappearance had been shown on TV other prisoners in Oldenburg had been threatening him.In the rambling 14-page letter, Brueckner said he had become the target of “insults and death threats” since the documentary aired.“I am [being forced] to isolate myself because there is a high probability of a physical attack by fellow prisoners,” he said. “It's torture.”He says he can’t work in the prison workshop any more because he fears for his life.“Should any of the inmates want to seriously injure me or kill me,” he wrote, “the locksmith shop is the ideal place.

Monster 101ft waves snapped from space in astonishing NASA satellite images
NASA has released astonishing satellite images that give a new perspective on a record-breaking 101ft-high wave surfed by Portuguese teenager António Laureano in October 2020.The images were captured by the Operational Land Imager instrument on Landsat 8.Thanks to a deep canyon below the ocean surface, Praia do Norte produces powerful, heavy, and sometimes dangerous waves that are believed to be the world’s largest. In April 2018, Brazilian Rodrigo Koxa broke the official world record for the largest wave ever surfed off the famous Portuguese beach, but his achievement was overshadowed by tragedy when British surfer Andrew Cotton broke his back in a sickening tumble that was branded Wipeout of the Year. But in October 2020, Portuguese teenager António Laureano surfed a monster wave that is estimated to have been over 101ft high. The exceptionally large and energetic swell in October 2020 is believed to have been driven by the remnants of Hurricane Epsilon, the fourth major hurricane of the extremely-active 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. In the NASA images, breaking waves can be seen as a strong white band parallel to the shoreline.A green plume, believed to be made of ocean sediment stirred up by the powerful waves, extends around six miles from the shore.Earlier this month, another young surfing talent claimed to have broken the 100-foot barrier. Mason Barnes told theinertia.com that he was sure he had broken the record, but that the numbers weren’t important to him: “I was just thankful to be there and ride that wave and to be a part of that day...“Just share those memories, you know, with everyone who was there.
