Eating out isn't exactly affordable nowadays, sadly.Back in 2019, the average cost of a burger and a pint from the UK's biggest pub chain Wetherspoons was £5.99.
Five years later, it'll set you back £8.79 - according to the menu at The Standing Order in Edinburgh, though admittedly that's still very cheap for a meal on George Street in the very heart of the city.
Just a five minute stroll from The Standing Order is Edinburgh's famous Christmas market, where you definitely won't bag a burger and alcoholic drink for under £9 - although to be fair the scenery and vibe is much better, there's a wider variety of food and your shoes are much less likely to stick to the carpet.
One person who decided to opt for the market over a cheaper dining option is a travel influencer called Nina, who has over 11,000 followers on TikTok, where she posts as @Nina.Pemb.Last weekend (Saturday, November 30), Nina shared a video of Edinburgh's Christmas market in which she detailed everything she ate while she was there, including loaded fries, pies, salt and chilli chicken and fruit crumble - an impressive amount for one visit. The clip quickly went viral and has had 375,000 views so far.
