EXCLUSIVE: Two-time Emmy-nominee Lizzy Caplan (Fleishman is in Trouble, Zero Day) and BAFTA award winner Tom Riley (The Nevers, The Woman in the House Across The Street From The Girl in the Window), have launched Westborn Pictures production company.
Under the banner, the husband-wife duo will develop, produce, write and direct content for film and television. “We couldn’t decide between starting this company or having another (human) baby.
Ultimately we opted for the company, but have leaned into a ‘soothing nursery aesthetic’ for all office space. We are thrilled to be teaming up with so many extraordinary partners in order to fulfill the company’s remit of developing character-driven, messy stories that ask the viewer to seek out nuance at a time when it’s most under threat,” Caplan and Riley said in a joint statement.
Caplan and Riley have over two decades of shared experience on either side of the camera, both having previously served as producers on projects they have also led as actors – Caplan on the Emmy-nominated Masters of Sex for Showtime, and Riley on the BAFTA and Emmy-winning Da Vinci’s Demons for Starz, as well as Dark Heart for ITV in the UK.
