Liz Truss is set to accompany the King on a tour of the United Kingdom as he leads "services of reflection", it has been announced.
The new Prime Minister will head to Scotland on Monday where the monarch will also be joined by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at a service in St Giles Cathedral in the capital.
The King, the Queen Consort and Truss will head to Northern Ireland on Tuesday and then Wales on Friday. A spokesperson for the PM said: "The Prime Minister believes it is important to be present for what will be a significant moment of national mourning around the United Kingdom." The late monarch's final public act was to appoint the Conservative leader the Prime Minister on Tuesday at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire.
Truss was one of a number of several senior MPs who swore a new oath of allegiance to the new King in a special sitting of parliament on Saturday afternoon.
