Livingston Women’s ace Erin Burns believes disappointment at last weekend’s draw with second-placed Renfrew shows the standards that the players set at the club.Despite the result seeing them maintain their 13 point lead at the SWF Championship summit, Burns confessed it was a frustrated dressing room at dropping two points. And she insists they can’t let those standards and demands of each other drop during the remainder of a campaign that the Lionesses hope will end in promotion to the second tier.Speaking to the Courier, she said: “It was a pretty quiet dressing room afterwards.
For us, draws feel like defeats to be honest. That’s the standards we hold ourselves to and we didn’t think we were good enough on the day.“It speaks volumes about the players at the club and the demands we have for each other that we’re honestly coming away frustrated with a draw against the team second in the league.”The former Edinburgh City star has enjoyed a decent run in the team of late as the Lionesses race towards the title and admits putting in the hard yards away from the club has given her an extra boost. She said: “I’ve been working hard away from training to try and push myself that wee bit extra and it’s paying off.
I’m really happy to be having a run in the team just now but you couldn’t really argue with any team picked because there’s such depth all over the park.“There is real quality in this team and that’s been one of the strong points over the course of the season.
You could probably make a change at every position and there’s someone just as good coming in. That pushes everyone to try and get the best out of themselves.”Next up for Livi, weather permitting, is an away day at Ayr United.
