Livingston winger Jaze Kabia is set for a loan switch to Championship side Greenock Morton. The Irishman spent the latter part of last season at Falkirk in League One having struggled with injuries in West Lothian which limited his game time. The 21-year-old will link up with keeper Brian Schwake, who made the same move last week.

Morton gaffer Dougie Imrie spent time on the Livingston coaching staff last year and knows both players.Livi boss David Martindale said: “Jaze should be a deal that gets done at some point this week.“He went out on loan at Falkirk and did really well at that the start but got a couple of niggling injuries that kept him out of things a bit.“But there’s a very good opportunity for him at Morton and Dougie knows him really well.“Hopefully we can get that one tied up as soon as possible.”Explaining the move behind young keeper Schwake’s move to Cappielow, Martindale added: “I’d spoken to Dougie about Brian.

He had been hoping to keep Jack Hamilton but for whatever reason that didn’t happen.“Brian goes there as the number one right now but it’s up to him to keep that and prove he deserves to be in that role.“It’s a really good club for him to go into as Dougie knows his ability.“It’s a big step-up for him and he’s playing at a higher level against better players.

It will be a good move for him and hopefully he can adapt to that quickly.“It was important to get that done quickly because I was thinking about taking him over to Spain but having that time at Morton and being part of that group is far more beneficial to him.” Don't miss the latest news from the West Lothian Courier.
