The Anfield skipper pipped Manchester City ace De Bruyne to the Football Writers’ Association trophy, much to the annoyance of many Blues fans.
But the Belgium star, likely to line up against Henderson in the Nations League clash with England tonight, won the vote of his fellow pros.
Henderson, who won his award partly as a result of his captaincy of the Premier League champions and his community work, said that he was one of the players who voted for his midfield rival.“I voted for Kevin in the PFA awards and couldn’t speak highly enough of him as a player,” said Henderson.“He deservedly won PFA Player.
