Nursery kids had a rootin’ tootin’ good time at a hoedown to celebrate being part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.Heriot Early Learning Centre was chosen as one of the pilot nurseries for the book gifting programme where children receive a high-quality book through the post, free of charge, every month until their fifth birthday.And the nursery decided to celebrate the partnership by organising a Heriot Hoedown with all the youngsters wearing country and western-style costumes, a photo booth, hot dogs and sweetcorn to eat, line dancing and a popular tin can alley.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

The ELC was transformed into the Wild West and our children and families fully embraced the theme, blowing us away with the effort they put in.“Lots of fun and laughter was had by all and as Dolly once said, “if you see someone without a smile give ’em yours”.“We were delighted to create an experience which put smiles on our little ones' faces.”The nursery thanked Julie Paterson and Gail Abraham who lead the initiative in Renfrewshire, for their invaluable help to achieve 100 per cent registration and inspire a love of reading whilst developing vocabulary, imagination, curiosity and communication skills.Each book that’s sent to the children is also sent to the nursery where staff record a video of them reading it and organise activities to help bring the book to life.Tracey McInally, Principal Teacher, said: “Over the course of this year, the staff have used the Imagination Library books as a focus for providing
