Timothée Chalamet play Bob Dylan’s ‘Girl From The North Country’ and ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ ahead of the release of A Complete Unknown.Chalamet (Dune, Wonka) will portray the legendary singer-songwriter in the James Mangold-directed film, which charts Dylan’s controversial switch from acoustic to electric guitar in the mid-’60s.It is set for release in US cinemas on Christmas Day (December 25), with a UK release to follow on January 17.Chalamet learned to play 30 songs in preparation for the role, taking lessons with a vocal coach, a guitar teacher, a dialect coach, a movement coach and even a harmonica tutor.Now, the first two singles from the film’s soundtrack have been released and see Chalamet taking on Dylan’s ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ and ‘Girl From The North Country’, which he performs with Monica Barbaro who plays Joan Baez in the film.You can listen to both tracks below and pre-save the soundtrack, which will arrive in December, here.Speaking about the soundtrack, director Mangold said: “To me, there was only one way to make this film — to cast actors that are profoundly talented, ambitious (and brave enough!) to inhabit the whole of the artists they would portray.
And in order to inhabit that world those artists had to be able to sing the songs.. We were never out to replace the power, beauty and majesty of what exists, but rather, to celebrate it.”Earlier this week, Dylan – who oversaw the film project as executive producer – has shared a post on X/Twitter about Chalamet’s big screen portrayal of him.“There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!),” the musician began.“Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role.
