Thursday have kicked off 2025 with the release of their heavy new single ‘Taking Inventory Of A Frozen Lake’. Check it out below.Produced by Stuart Richardson, the track opens with intense drumming paired with a gritty, chugging guitar riff while Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly wails: “What’s in my heart?
It’s a frozen lake / What’s in my heart? It’s a list of names with no ending.”In the caption of an Instagram post shared to their official account, the American post-hardcore band shared that ‘Taking Inventory Of A Frozen Lake’ “began life at Steve Evetts’s studio in Jersey on off days when we toured with MCR in 2022.”Explaining the lyrics, the band said that they “refer to the dark night of the soul that people encounter when they are forced to examine their pasts.
It reminds us of an updated version of the kind of songs we gravitated towards in the Full Collapse era and we are so blessed and so happy to share it with you.”The new song follows their previously released tracks ‘White Bikes’ in December and ‘Application For Release From the Dream’ in April, with the latter marking their first new music in 13 years.Thursday have released a 12″ pressing of ‘Taking Inventory Of A Frozen Lake’ with ‘White Bikes’ as the B-side.
