Cardi B has today (June 1) released ‘Hot Shit’, a Kanye West and Lil Durk-assisted song lifted from the rapper’s forthcoming album.The track, which was first confirmed during an advert at the 2022 BET Awards late last month, was produced by hip-hop juggernaut Tay Kieth.
On it, Cardi brings her signature bravado before welcoming Durk and West for their own flow-switching verses. Listen below. ‘Hot Shit’ marks Cardi’s first solo release since 2021’s ‘Bet It’, which was lifted from the soundtrack for the Netflix drama Bruised.
Since then, the rapper has featured in a suite of collaborations, including the Normani-assisted ‘Wild Side’, Lizzo’s ‘Rumours’ and the extended version of Summer Walker and SZA’s ‘No Love’.More recently, Cardi teamed up with fellow Bronx rappers Kay Flock and Dougie B for their April song ‘Shake It’.‘Hot Shit’, which samples Marcia Griffiths’ 1990 track ‘Electric Boogy’, joins previous singles ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ on the tracklist of Cardi’s upcoming sophomore album.
The as-yet untitled follow-up to Cardi’s 2018 debut, ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ – which earned her a Grammy for Best Rap Album – is yet to be formally announced.Last month, Cardi responded to claims that she included ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ – released in 2020 and 2021, respectively – on the forthcoming album to boost its prospective sales.
