The record is the follow-up to 2023’s ‘I Don’t Know’ and is set to arrive on February 28 via Mogwai’s label Rock Action – visit here to pre-order/pre-save.Today (January 13), the band have shared another preview of the record in the form of ‘Infinity Peaking’.
The song takes on a more synth-driven approach than earlier tracks in their discography, and captures a dream-like atmosphere.“Forgiving myself, one more time, again/ Staring out at the world I have created, so lost/ And it feels like I’m losing my mind,” frontman Ryan Smith sings on top of the ethereal instrumentals.“Infinity Peaking perfectly encapsulates the band we were and the band we are now, that careful balance of shoegaze and electronica,” Smith said of the new single. “It was written when I was in Malaga, and is the first track I wrote that wasn’t in some dingy bedroom.“It’s a track that is full of true joy (despite the lyrics) and it was a pleasure to work on in the studio/ It’s one that we felt we could really get into the experimentation on, especially in the long-spanning mid-section,” the singer and guitarist continued. “We’re always happiest when we’re sat on the floor of the studio surrounding the latest pedal we bought, each dying to have a pass on it.”Check out the single above.The new album was recorded with Bdrmm’s long-term collaborator Alex Greaves, and features guest appearances from Sydney Minsky Sargeant (Working Men’s Club) and Olivesque (Nightbus).It is also described as “a bold.
