Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has recalled how his side were given the runaround by Lionel Messi and Barcelona in the 2011 Champions League final at Wembley.
In what was the second final between United and Barca in three seasons, Messi scored as Barca beat Sir Alex Ferguson's side in what many claim to be one of the more complete final performances of recent times.
Messi was at the heart of that, and just as he had in the 2009 final in Rome, he found the net to cap a standout display that left Ferdinand and United's defenders dizzy. "Messi was a killer," Ferdinand told the West Ham star Declan Rice and Chelsea's Mason Mount when he was asked who was the best player he ever faced during an interview for the Copa90 YouTube channel.
