Joe Otterson TV Reporter Linda Cardellini has been cast in a lead role opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the upcoming HBO dark comedy limited series “DTF St.

Louis,” Variety has learned. HBO gave the series a seven-episode order in November. It was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce.

It was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.” However, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and it is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article and with Pascal no longer involved.

The official logline now states the show is “about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead.” Cardellini will play Carol.
