When the Hamilton movie was released a few weeks ago, everyone couldn’t stop talking about Jonathan Groff and his spit.
The 35-year-old Tony-nominated actor plays King George in the filmed version of the Broadway musical and he’s known for spitting while he sings, which is something that viewers can clearly see in the movie. Jonathan is aware that he spits while singing and has even commented on it in the past.
Now, the film’s co-executive producer Jon Kamen is opening up about how editors were ready to use visual effects to remove the spit, but Lin-Manuel Miranda and his team wanted to keep it in! “We said don’t worry we can clean that up — they were like ‘No, leave it!,’” Kamen told IndieWire.
