Lin-Manuel Miranda is opening up about his hit song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” from Encanto.
The 42-year-old star got candid in an interview on Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast. Click inside to read more… During his appearance, Lin-Manuel Miranda addressed his second Oscar nomination for original song “Dos Oruguitas” from the movie, rather than the current chart-topping “Bruno.” The decision had to be done by November 1, and the film had yet opened in theaters. “I’m still proud of ‘Dos Oruguitas’ as the submission,” he said. “When those are the parameters, you have to pick the thing that best exemplifies the spirit of the movie, and it contains all of it inside this song – as opposed to a journey of a particular character.
It’s the foundational story, but I’m not going to say it wasn’t hard [to choose].” The Encanto album has spent fifth weeks at No.
1 on the Billboard charts, making it one of six soundtracks to have had at least five weeks in the top spot in the last three decades, and the most recent since 2013′s Frozen. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is currently topping the top 40 songs chart.
