Lily Gladstone opened up about her Best Actress loss at the 2024 Oscars. The 37-year-old actress was in the running for the award for her work in Killers of the Flower Moon.
However, it ultimately went to Emma Stone for Poor Things. In a new interview, Lily revealed that she and Emma spoke about the final results.
She also reflected on her decision to compete for Best Actress instead of Best Supporting Actress. Keep reading to find out more… “Emma and I talked about it, and had wonderful conversations about how ridiculous it is to place art in competition,” Lily told Variety. “Awards are supposed to be giving accolades to the art no matter what.
It’s like you’re awarding just by acknowledging and nominating, really, but then this competitive nature takes over. How does that work in something so subjective and personal as art?” Since Mollie featured in under a third of the movie, some people speculated that Lily could have submitted for Best Supporting Actress instead of the top honor.
