Liam Payne's one 'regret' with ex Cheryl – as he makes huge life change

Liam Payne hasn't had the easiest time of it in recent years. He has suffered both mental and physical health problems, and also undertook a brief stint in rehab, but the former boy-bander has now sworn to turn his life around.

And this is starting with his decision to start putting fatherhood first.The former One Direction star, 30, once claimed that welcoming his son Bear had "ruined" his relationship with then-girlfriend Cheryl, and for a number of years, Liam admitted that it wasn’t "unusual" for him to be in and out of Bear’s life, due to his career taking him around the world.

However, a source has now told OK! that Liam has opted to now focus more of his energy and time on raising Bear. "Liam is taking on more responsibilities and really regrets those comments he made about kids ruining relationships" they told us, "He wants to prove to Cheryl that he’s now going in the right direction and has really changed. "His health scares have also pushed him to realise that he wants to be a big part in Bear’s life and that time goes by too quickly." Liam's change of priorities couldn't have come at a better time for Cheryl, who will soon be embarking on a reunion tour with her Girls Aloud bandmates, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh, in honour of their late bandmate Sarah Harding.

Our source said: "I think he wants to prove to Cheryl that he’s getting his life together. Liam wants to be a good dad and with Cheryl now going back on Girls Aloud, she’ll be busier than ever and won’t be at home as much."
