Liam Payne has reflected on the life-changing moment he auditioned for The X Factor 10 years ago - securing his place in One Direction and his later relationship with Cheryl.

The pop star took to social media to reveal it is exactly 10 years to the day since he stood in front of the telly judges to sing for a slot on the show.

He shared a picture of the audition, during which he crooned for Cheryl, who would eventually become his girlfriend and the mother of his son.

Liam wrote: "It’s been 10 years today since my X Factor audition and I just read that my first album just hit over 2 billion streams... "That scared young man didn’t think that was gunna happen.
