Lewis Hamilton will begin talks over a new Mercedes deal this week after securing a record equalling seventh world title in Turkey.
The Brit won from sixth on the grid at a wet Istanbul Park to match Michael Schumacher's haul. But all year he and team boss Toto Wolff have shunned talk of a new deal and insisted they would begin negotiations once the world championship had been won.
Hamilton's £40m-a-year contract expires at the end of the season while Wolff's future is not yet ironed out. But the Austrian revealed they will begin discussions this week but confessed the opening exchanges are not enjoyable.
