After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified eight-times platinum in the UK.
The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.
Lewis Capaldi has opened up about the email of encouragement he received from music legend Elton John. The West Lothian superstar bared his soul in his documentary How I'm Feeling Now, which gives an intimate insight into Lewis' life as he writes his second album while grappling with anxiety and his Tourette's diagnosis.
Lewis, 26, is good pals with Ed Sheeran, and while he doesn't make a cameo in the documentary, he is mentioned at a pivotal moment.
The Someone You Loved singer opened up about a conversation he had with Ed about his "imposter syndrome" - which typically leaves people feeling like they don't belong or are a fraud.
In the documentary, Lewis states: “I have never been more insecure in my life than I am now. I feel like I’m in a race against the clock to get my mental health in order."While Lewis' friends and family are seen supporting him throughout the documentary, he got some special words of encouragement from the legendary Elton.
