Lewis Capaldi (born 7 October 1996) is a Scottish singer-songwriter. He was nominated for the Critics' Choice Award at the 2019 Brit Awards. In March 2019, his single "Someone You Loved" topped the UK Singles Chart where it remained for seven weeks, and in October 2019 it reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. On 17 May 2019 he released his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which remained at the top of the UK Albums Chart for six weeks.

Lewis Capaldi fears his own mother is trolling him after she began incessantly reading insults to him. The 23-year-old chart topping star has enjoyed phenomenal success since he burst on to the music scene in 2017 – going on to scoop music awards and hit No 1 with his debut album.

But, as many are all too aware, fame comes at a price and it seems even the notoriously jovial Scottish singer is occasionally targeted with vile abuse online.

While blocking Twitter accounts could be one way to limit how he is subjected to the insults being hurled at him, it seems the offensive phrases trolls send his way are being broadcast to him regardless.
