Lewis Capaldi (born 7 October 1996) is a Scottish singer-songwriter. He was nominated for the Critics' Choice Award at the 2019 Brit Awards. In March 2019, his single "Someone You Loved" topped the UK Singles Chart where it remained for seven weeks, and in October 2019 it reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. On 17 May 2019 he released his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which remained at the top of the UK Albums Chart for six weeks.

Lewis Capaldi has claimed he really shouldn’t be here after his father was apparently supposed to have a vasectomy before the chart-topper was born.

But aren’t we all mighty glad he is here! The Scottish singer’s parents, Carole and Mark, already had three children – boys Warren and Aidan, and girl Danielle – when they decided that was enough, and Lewis’s dad had the procedure to make sure there were no more.

However, in a new YouTube short documentary released today titled Birthday Song – about Lewis’s upbringing – he spoke of his rather surprising welcome into the world. ‘You should’ve seen my dad, he was really sad,’ Lewis said, according to The Sun. ‘My mum was even more sad.
