Mitchell Ryan has sadly passed away. The actor – best-known for playing the villainous heroin-smuggling General Peter McAllister in the first Lethal Weapon movie – died at the age of 88 on Friday (March 4). Along with his role in Lethal Weapon, Mitchell was also best known for playing ex-con Burke Devlin on Dark Shadows, rich boozy dad Edward Montgomery on Dharma & Greg and Shorty Austin in the Lee Marvin-Jack Palance Western Monte Walsh.
After news of Mitchell‘s death broke, his former Dark Shadows co-star Kathryn Leigh Scott took to Facebook to remember him. “My sweet, beloved friend Mitch died early this morning,” Kathryn wrote. “He was a great gift in my life.
I cherish my warm memories of his beautiful soul. I’m heartbroken.” Along with Denise, Mitchell is also survived by his wife Barbara, grandchildren Ashley, Jacqueline, Olivia, Kaila, and Noah, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and sister-in-law Mary.
