Leon King hopes to be back in action for Rangers within a couple of months. Gers announced last night that the kid defender was looking at a “significant” lay-off after being injured during a training ground clash at their pre-season base in Germany.
But Record Sport understands that Scotland Under-21 ace King is confident the ankle injury he suffered will not keep him out of action too long.
The 19-year-old expects to be back available for Michael Beale’s side long before the turn of the year. King took to Twitter shortly after news of his injury blow was revealed by the club to thank supporters for their well wishes.
He posted: “Gutted. Not what anyone wants in pre-season, but I’ll be back stronger soon. Thanks for the messages everyone.” Ibrox boss Beale is taking no chances with his rear-guard options given the cornerstone of his defence Connor Goldson is still some way of full fitness, leaving only John Souttar, Ben Davies and Dujon Sterling as centre-back alternatives.
