Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Leon Balogun has set his sights on bringing silverware to Ibrox after extending his Rangers stay - on the day when five of his team-mates headed for the Ibrox exit door.The 35-year-old rejoined the Light Blues last summer on a year-long deal, having helped the club win the Scottish Premiership title under Steven Gerrard.
Balogun then left to hook up with Michael Beale at QPR, having worked under the Londoner at Ibrox when he was a coach under Gerrard.
Beale signed him when he became Gers boss with Giovanni van Bronckhorst having allowed him to leave. Rangers announced that five players are leaving following the expiration of their contracts: John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, Borna Barisic and Jon McLaughlin.
But the club confirmed Balogun's extension and the Nigeria international, who played his part in the 2021 title win, said: "I am very, very happy and privileged to be able to extend my contract at a club like Rangers.
