Strictly Come Dancing star Len Goodman has died aged 78 from bone cancer. A spokeswoman for Len told MailOnline: "I can confirm he died peacefully over the weekend surrounded by his family." It is believed he died in a hospice in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday night after a short illness.
He would have turned 79 on 25 April. Len was the former head judge of Strictly Come Dancing from its launch in 2004 until his final appearance on the 2016 Christmas Day special, after which he was replaced as head judge by Shirley Ballas.
He was hugely popular with fans for his knowledge and wry humour. Len's agent Jackie Gill said in a statement: “It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78. “A much loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him.” Len leaves behind his wife of 11 years, Sue Goodman.The couple were together for a decade before tying the knot in 2012.
He was a father to a 42 year old son, James William Goodman, who's mother is a woman named Lesley, with whom Len previously had a longterm relationship.
