'Law & Order: SVU' Names Its First Female Showrunner Ever for Season 27 as NBC Renewal Looks Likely

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is facing an exciting change. Writer and producer Michele Fazekas will be the new showrunner for season 27 of the long-running NBC crime drama, making her the first woman to do so.

While the show has not been officially pick up for another season, it is “fully expected” to be renewed, per Deadline. Michele will be replacing David Graziano, who was the showrunner from seasons 23-26.

This will mark her return to the show in nearly 20 years, as she also served as a writer-producer on SVU from seasons 3-7 in 2001-2006. Keep reading to find out more… Michele was also the showrunner for Gen V on Prime Video for the first two seasons.

Her other producing credits include Reaper, Emergence, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, Agent Carter, and Resurrection. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is the longest running primetime television series in America.
