Sports host Laura Woods revealed that she was on the receiving end of death threats following her comments on a boxing gender controversy at the Olympics.

Speaking out after engaging with a Telegraph article that criticised IOC head Thomas Bach for not safeguarding female athletes, allowing Imane Khelif and Lin Yu Ting to box at the Paris Olympics despite failing sex tests, the presenter - who is expecting her first child with fiancé Adam Collard - faced a barrage of abuse. The TNT Sports presenter, who is presenting ITV's coverage of the England v Germany Women's football match at Wembley on Friday, 25 October, supported the piece on Twitter back in August by writing "Great article" and has since been inundated with vile threats, including against her unborn baby.

She shared, "Since I replied to this article I've had numerous death threats to myself and my unborn child," also revealing the extent of the harassment: "Questions on my own gender (I'm pregnant so guess that clears that one up) calls for my employers to sack me, threats to my home." She continued, detailing the insults hurled at her, "I've been called a racist, a bigot and a sexist as well as various insults - c***, s*** etc.

I've also been asked why I haven't raised any concerns on this topic before? See above for your answer." "When there are discrepancies with test results - which could impact the safety of another human being, in an environment that above all else should be fair - questions are quite rightly going to be asked. The answers are still unclear, otherwise this topic would be closed." The article came after Algerian boxer Imane took home the Gold after facing Angela Carini in the women's 66kg boxing during the Olympics this summer.
