Latest Greater Manchester Covid infection rates - as numbers rise in eight of the region's boroughs

Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in eight of Greater Manchester's 10 boroughs, figures published today showed. The weekly rates have fallen in two areas - Bolton and Stockport.

The borough of Manchester continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester. It recorded a rate of 368.3 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending June 18, according to the latest data from Public Health England.

The figures to that date are the latest available. The lowest infection rate is in Stockport, where the rate is 199.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 284.2 cases per 100,000 population. That's higher than the national average, which is 98.2 cases per 100,000 people.
