Latest coronavirus infection rates in Greater Manchester as 12,700 people test positive in a week

Don't miss a thing that's happening in and around Bury by signing up to the free MyBury newsletterCoronavirus infection rates have risen again in Greater Manchester after more than 12,700 people tested positive in a week.The latest information from Public Health England shows that rates are heading upwards in all ten boroughs of our region.Across Greater Manchester there were 12,736 positive tests in the seven days up to January 8th, which is equivalent to an infection rate of 449.1 cases per 100,000 population.That is an increase of 40 per cent on the previous week and the rate is now at its highest level since November 11.However, it remains significantly lower than the national average rate for England, which was 651.8 cases per 100,000.
