Lanarkshire dad almost died three times from sepsis after grazing knuckles while tinkering with car

A Lanarkshire dad was forced to have his arm amputated after he grazed his knuckles while tinkering with his car and developed deadly sepsis.

Stephen Rae, from Cumbernauld, was working on his motor when he injured his right hand in May 2017 but dismissed it as a minor cut which soon scabbed over.

The following month, the 40-year-old woke to discover his right forearm was extremely swollen before being admitted to hospital on an IV drip to treat the blood poisoning.
