Lanark United will relish a place in the West of Scotland League – because they want to test themselves at the highest possible level.Boss Colin Slater says the proposal is becoming a more attractive prospect the more he thinks about it, because it gives them a crack at top-rated teams.While he acknowledges that United couldn’t compete financially with the big boys, Slater reckons they could hold their own on the pitch.He said: “I wasn’t sure about the West of Scotland League to begin with, because I’m a long-term ‘junior’, but the more I see of it the more I think of it as a proposition.“The club needs to stay in the pack and not be left behind.
