Lady Gaga’s new “electro, grunge song” ‘Perfect Celebrity’ was “inspired by The Cure”

Lady Gaga has revealed that the song ‘Perfect Celebrity’ on her forthcoming album ‘Mayhem’ was inspired by the The Cure.The singer’s highly anticipated seventh LP is set for release on Friday (March 7) and is available for pre-order here.

It follows on from 2020’s ‘Chromatica’ and her Joker: Folie a Deux companion record ‘Harlequin’ which was released last year.So far, Gaga has released three singles from the record: the hit collaborative track with Bruno Mars, ‘Die With A Smile’, ‘Disease’ and ‘Abracadabra’.Now, speaking to Zane Lowe in a new interview, she spoke about ‘Perfect Celebrity’ describing it as “probably the most angry song” on the record.She said: “There’s a lot of nineties energy in that song.

The nineties is how I fell in love with music as a teenager. In the studio we all shared that in common as well, a love of that time.“‘Perfect Celebrity’ started as an electro grunge song.

It was also inspired by The Cure and the song ‘Never Enough’ I used to play in my apartment a million times before I walked into this bar.
