Thania Garcia Lady Gaga‘s “Mayhem” has made its mark as the No. 1 album in the United States this week. Her seventh studio album, “Mayhem” earns Gaga the biggest opening week for an album by a woman this year with 219,000 units earned, per Luminate. “Mayhem” also granted Gaga her biggest streaming debut yet, launching to the summit with 108 million streams.
Gaga has had five of her solo studio albums debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200 including “Born This Way,” “Artpop,” “Joanne” and “Chromatica,” along with the “A Star Is Born” soundtrack and “Cheek to Cheek,” an album she shares with Tony Bennett.
Ahead of “Mayhem’s” release, Gaga sold 14 different physical variants including limited-edition vinyl, CDs and cassettes featuring the original cover art.
Of “Mayhem’s” 219,000 first-week units, album sales comprised 136,000 as the top-selling album of the week. Vinyl purchases comprised 74,000 of that total — Gaga’s career-best total in vinyl sales.
