Labour today demanded Gavin Williamson resigns after a string of fiascos in England's schools. Shadow Education Secretary Kate Green said it was "time for him to go" after the latest row over free meals for kids.
She added: "Our children’s future, our children’s education, our children’s wellbeing is too important to be left in the hands of someone who plainly isn’t up to the job." A Labour source said it was the first time Ms Green - who took the job in June 2020 - has directly called for the Education Secretary to leave his job, after a catalogue of controversies in recent months.
