Kumail Nanjiani has praised SXSW for cancelling the world-famous festival amid fears over the coronavirus outbreak. The Marvel star was set to appear as a featured speaker at the event in Austin, Texas, alongside the likes of Chris Evans and Karlie Kloss.

Taking to Twitter, Kumail said: ‘Sxsw is one of my favorite festivals. Canceling it was the responsible thing to go. I know this sucks for many people for whom this was a massive opportunity. ‘But we’re kind of in an unprecedented situation here and caution is key.

Thank you for the making the right decision.’ He added: ‘I know the coronavirus isn’t that scary for a lot of ppl. Many of you are young & healthy & will be able to defeat it without medical help.
