The tight-knit crew at KTLA got some more tough news this week with the revelation that the station’s longtime weatherman, Mark Kriski, has suffered a mild stroke.

The news comes after station staff were devastated by the news earlier this month that beloved entertainment reporter Sam Rubin had died of a heart attack.

In a post to social media KTLA said Kriski’s stroke had happened earlier this week, but noted that “he’s in good spirits…and looks forward to being back with the team soon.” The station also made a brief announcement on air about his condition.

Kriski’s wife told TMZ that he had the stroke early Monday and was hospitalized. He joined the KTLA Morning News in 1991 and, according to his official bio, is “one of the last-remaining original ‘characters’ from the show’s inception.” He is a nine-time Emmy winner, has appeared as a newscaster or weatherman in Speed and Speed 2 and on shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 7th Heaven and Everybody Hates Chris.
