Kind neighbours leave sweet parting gift of £50 to man next door as they move house

A couple’s kind gesture has caused an internet stir after their neighbour, touched by the generosity, shared it on social media. “Mary and Bernard” wrote a touching card to Ian Freud asking him to keep in touch as they will be moving away from the area.

Included in the card was £50 and a note telling him to go out and get a drink on them. The Leeds couple had lived in the house together for 53 years but will be moving some 40 minutes away to Halifax, Leeds Live reports.

As they left they gave neighbour Ian a sweet parting gift, which was later shared in a Twitter post that has received 11,000 likes so far.
