Two kind-hearted siblings have spread some festive cheer thanks to their wonderful pottery.Springholm Primary pupils Pippin and Fred Fitch from have been selling small, ceramic brooches over the course of the year.Their endeavours raised an incredible £1,600 – and on Thursday night they spent three hours in Castle Douglas Tesco spending the money on food and cleaning and personal items before delivering it to Stepping Stones Food Bank and Community Pantry.Springholm Primary head teacher, Richard Teall, said: “Mum reports that the supermarket staff were all so very helpful with trolleys and packing boxes – thank you Tesco.“They have worked so hard making all their brooches and the people who have bought them have been so very generous.“What a wonderful thing to have done at a time of year that can be so challenging for some members of our community.

Their endeavours were so notable that they featured on Border TV.”Pippin and Fred’s parents are Corsock-based Potters Hannah McAndrew and Doug Fitch.

This is the third year they have been selling brooches at pottery shows and fairs their parents attended, raising £851 last year and more than £400 in 2022.
