Coronation Street's Maria Connor may have looked a little different, as someone else was in the running to play the character.
Maria made her debut on the Cobbles in May 2000, and has been played by actress Samia Longchambon for the entire time. But 20 years ago as castings were being finalised, there was another famous face hoping to land the role and she almost did.
Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh was in the running for the role too, she has confirmed, and was in the final two or three.
She was so close, but Samia was given the role and has remained on the ITV soap ever since. But things happen for a reason, with Kimberley going on to appear on ITV's Popstars: The Rivals.
