A Kilwinning primary school parent council has clinched a £50,000 cash boost for a new playpark. The funding package for the town's Corsehill Primary was agreed at a recent North Ayrshire Council cabinet meeting after the proposal was presented by the Kilwinning locality partnership following consultation with local people. The money will come from the council’s community investment fund (CIF) which received a £3 million top-up in 2021 – bringing total CIF funding available to £5.6m – and is designed for local groups to help support the recovery of community-led projects in the wake of the Covid pandemic. To date, over £1.2million in CIF funding has been doled out across North Ayrshire.Wendy Crighton, co-chairperson of the parent council, said: “We are delighted to have received funding from the community investment fund to allow us to progress with our ambitious plans for Corsehill playpark, none of which would have been possible without the help and support of the Kilwinning locality partnership.“Outdoor play is so important and the benefits are widely recognised.
