Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Kilmarnock's martial arts club preparing for the World Championships 2023

Phoenix Taekwon-do in Kilmarnock are raising £2,000 to help fund the club's competitors' fees and travel expenses for the World Taekwondo Championships this July.The martial arts club have competed in National and International competitions over the years and are now working hard to represent Scotland at the World Championships.The three day event will take place at Coventry Skydome Arena from Friday, July 14 until Sunday, July 16 where all divisions including juniors, youths, cadets, adults, executives and super executives will compete for a title.Scott McMillan, 6th Dan in Taekwondo and the Senior instructor at Phoenix, said: “This year we have the World Championships in England, the first since the Covid-19 pandemic, and as we have a good reputation we are trying to continue this trend of producing World class competitors, and at the moment have 24 students who are wanting to represent their club and country.“As the cost of living has affected everyone, Phoenix Taekwon-do is trying to raise £2,000 to help, in some small way the 24 competitors with the cost of getting to this massive event, where they will need £60 just to stand on the mat with over 20 other countries that will be represented, with over 2000 competitors, all wanting to be the best of the best.“These students who are wanting to compete for Scotland, have worked hard to be where they are with the ultimate goal of representing the club and country at stake.

It is important for them to compete and see their dreams be fulfilled.”Phoenix was formed 22 years ago and has around 110 members.
