Kilmarnock's prison last night with at least five cars on fire.The vehicles burst into flames in the car park of HMP Kilmarnock, also known as Bowhouse jail, as Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to the scene.Flames could be seen from the A76 as eyewitnesses looked on from a distance.Police have confirmed that they received reports of five cars on fire just before 7.30pm but Serco, the firm who run the prison, say six vehicles went up in smoke.The reason for the fire has yet to be established and police are carrying out enquiries.Firefighters were on the scene for almost two hours in order to get the situation under control.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area –.
